countryside, The Bell Inn is an outstanding 17th century inn, complete with exposed beams, flagstone floors, oak furniture, open fireplaces…and a warm welcome.

The Bell Inn has been providing refreshment for over 300 years. According to local history, William Shakespeare was on his way back to Stratford upon Avon in the rain after meeting Drayton and Ben Jonson for a drink at The Bell in Welford, when he contracted fatal pneumonia! Luckily the roads are somewhat better these days, and we can always arrange a taxi for you to get home.

Dogs - Our Furry Friends
We allow well behaved dogs on leads in the Front area of the pub only - its best to book to guarantee a table with your fur baby, you need to let us know you have a dog at the time of booking so that you can be allocated to the correct area.

Welford walks
There are many public footpath routes in and around Welford, with a variety of distances suitable for all.
With The Bell in the center of the village, you can enjoy all the beautiful scenery surrounding the river Avon and our garden on one trip.

As Published in The Times, there is a walk from Stratford-upon-Avon to The Bell totaling around 5 miles. This walk is an easy route with good paths throughout.

For those who prefer to cycle, there are many routes in and around Welford for you too.

This route is around 15 miles and is suitable for beginners and any bike, with a convenient stop in Welford for lunch at The Bell.

There are two buses that run to Stratford-upon-Avon from Welford.

Number 27 from Headland Road.
Number 28 from Evesham Road at the top of Binton Road - traveling both directions to Stratford and Evesham.
