We’ve thought long and hard about what category we fall into. The modern term seems to be ‘Gastro Pub’, which is the English equivalent to the French Bistro, where you can have a drink, a light bite, or a gourmet meal, whatever takes your fancy. Although that’s our philosophy, it’s a bit of a trendy term, and we’re not about following trends!

We describe ourselves as a Dining Pub. This means that The Bell is a pub at heart, with a friendly atmosphere, but providing food and service to a standard you’d expect from a first class restaurant.
